Joe Mwai
My name is Joe Mwai. My background is community and international development. I have served in many roles with non-profit organizations working in community development and social housing including, Fred Victor Centre Housing, Toronto, Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA), Anglican Church of Canada and Canadian Crossroads International. As an entrepreneur, I founded Global Seekers, an experiential learning program in 2008. And in 2011 I founded Valley Wood Ltd a housing development business, ValleyWood has successfully developed four housing projects; Mayor’s Crescent Court, Valleywood Court, Twiga Road, and Ole Montet Villas in Kibiko Road, Ngong Hills Kenya. I studied community development, nonprofit management and project management at Ryerson University. I believe in giving back and I volunteer with, Shauri Yako Community Youth Support Centre, as a Director and with Chairman Friends of Ngong Hills. My hobbies are reading, traveling and photography.
Janet Maina
Janet Maina has a solid background in Business management and Procurement & Supplies management, having studied both at Kenya Institute of Management. She is currently pursing a Diploma in Civil Engineering at Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology. Her previous work experience was gained at Cooper Motors Corporation (CMC) as an intern and worked at Kenya National Bureau of statistics and Ital Imports, Kenya. At Options for Homes Kenya, she is in charge of administration and marketing.
Michel Labbé
Michel Labbé (Mike to many), is an Urban and Regional Planning Graduate from the University of Waterloo. He has been involved in the production of affordable housing for 25 years, the first 13 working on subsidized rental projects with Lantana Non-profit Housing Corporation. Michel worked with Options for Homes Canada as President of Options For Homes Non-profit Corporation has been instrumental in developing a model that can provide mixed income housing to thousands of households without any permanent government subsidy and has become a leading organization in the Social Enterprise movement and has provided homes to over 3700 households across Canada, and also licensing its concept internationally. He now works with Options International a non-profit organization developing affordable homes internationally, with the goal of creating a stronger society.
